Trader Joe’s Chocolate Truffle Filled Figs

There are so many new holiday products in Trader Joe’s right now, that we feel a bit like a kid in …. well a candy shop! But I guess that is how I feel when I shop at Trader Joe’s on many occasions as there are so many wonderful products to choose from.  Today we wanted to tell you about this product as you might easily pass it up:

9 Rabitos Royal~ Chocolate Truffle Filled Figs!

Chocolate covered FigsWe usually enjoy figs during the holidays ~ either fresh in a sauce or as an appetizer but certainly dried figs also make there way under the tree for some tasty gift-giving too.  So when we saw this package we instantly thought we are going to try these and see if they will make a nice gift.

The short answer is YES!!

These are absolutely delish! And a great mixture of flavors. First a nice-sized fig is stuffed with a smooth chocolaty truffle center (with a hint of brandy I might add) Then the whole truffle is covered in a thin layer of chocolate which melts in your mouth~ as well as on your fingers ~ YUM!

I tried to cut one in half for a photo… but Yikes~ the fig protested ~ and became utterly un-photogenic fast! So our advice is to pop the whole fig in your mouth and just savor all the flavors as they appear.

Another cool thing? Each fig is individually wrapped for freshness and that  might make it easier to take a fig or two for a gourmet lunch box treat… OK that is my plan….. You could always add them to a cookie assortment too…

    I did! I tried them! Love the packaging, the individual wrapped figs, and they taste utterly delicious. The brandy was a surprise which made them even more enjoyable. 🙂

    Oh those chocolate covered figs – I think I bought the last few boxes in the Portland, Oregon area – will you be getting more of them? They are amazing.

      I sure hope the nice folks at Trader Joe’s will have them again next year! I gave them out as gifts and everyone loved them. Cheers! Kris

    I received a box of these for Christmas and they were delicious. I became very greedy with them and did not share them with anyone. I’m just hoping Trader Joe’s will have them as a regular item otherwise I’ll have to buy tons of them next Christmas.

    Those chocolate covered figs taste divine. I found them randomly when i was last in america. I bought a few boxes then and have begged my cousins to bring some over when they next come to visit me in the uk.

    I have waited all year for these to return to TJ’s. I checked with my local store yesterday and was told they are not a “sure to stock item this year but to keep checking back”. Huge dissapointment they don’t stock them this year.

    Do you know if Trader Joes will get them in again this year? They are the most amazing things ever. I checked last week and they didn’t have them. The guy said that they were showing as out of stock but that could be just a seasonal term. I haven’t checked again this week yet. I kind of feel like I am stalking them…they are really that good!!

    I loved these just from having a small sample bit that I shared with my daughter. But found out from our local Trader Joe’s that our area ( the east coast ) will not be getting them! I am hoping to figure out the recipe. It bothers me when I fall for a product from Trader Joes and they discontinue it.

    Ok do any of the Trader Joe’s have them this year 2012? I have asked my local shop in Fl Pk., NJ and they say NO. I an so disappointed. I bought 20 boxes last year and we were so looking forward to them again. Help!!

    I talked to my store and they said many people have contacted the head quarters and they will bring them back next year! They said costumers have the most power!

    Am praying that Rabitos are available for the 2013 Holiday season. I was so disappointed that Trader Joe’s did not carry them in 2012. I used to buy about 25 boxes each year & ship them out to family & friends. Great for gift giving & everyone loved receiving them. Of course, we here at home loved eating them too! Please, Trader Joe’s, let us have our Rabitos back!!!
