Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Cups Trax Mix

OK-YUM! Trader Joe’s has combined smooth creamy mini peanut butter cups with dried cherries, almonds and cashews! Appropriately called Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Cups Trax Mix.

We spotted this new trail mix on the “new items” shelf at Trader Joe’s on a recent visit. This is one of my favorite places to check out, just before we check out, just to see what is new in the store. As you know, Trader Joe’s has so many great items that even regular shoppers don’t get to know all of them. This New Items area gives us a head start, right?

OK back to the Peanut Butter Cups Trax Mix. YUM! Yes I said that, but I will say it again. The crunchy nuts, and the chewy dried cherries are wonderful together. AND then add the rich chocolate and peanut butter mini cups and this Trax mix is a home run!  I can see a baggie of this Peanut Butter Cups Trax Mix going into a lunch in the near future…. I guess that is IF there is any left!

Now the only thing I want to mention is the potential for a melt down with this product.  Here in Tucson it is still fairly hot out (Yikes today’s high is 100) and therefore this product might not be the best kind to include in a lunch or backpack to take for a quick snack. We usually stick to the fruit-and –nut only Trax Mix until the temps are under the 70’s. Just FYI

Have you tried this yummy Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Cups Trax Mix? What did you think??

New Products Spotted At Trader Joe’s

On a recent trip to Trader Joe’s we spotted something new. Now new is sometimes not that easy to spot at our Trader Joe’s store, because we get into such a rush to “get it, and get home” that sometimes we forget to stop and smell the coffee (OK drink a coffee sample and look around  as well, right?)

Trader Joe's Refrigerated Cinnamon RollsAnyway as I was sipping my coffee and realizing that my list was still taped to the refrigerator….grrr…  So I started to chat with the Trader Joe’s Crewmember who was sampling products that day (Yogurt and granola- Yummy.). And we got to chatting about cinnamon rolls of all things.  The Crewmember told me that Trader Joe’s now has a convenient “can” of cinnamon rolls in the refrigerator case….

Well you know that I made a beeline over to check that out!

Yep! There they were… right next to some canned Crescent Rolls and canned Buttermilk Biscuits. WOW. How could I have missed these cool items??

As cheesy as this sounds, I just love those canned cinnamon rolls. They just wait around in the fridge until you are ready for them, and then POP you open and bake ‘em up… and you whole house smells heavenly! You try and let them cool for a moment before spreading the glaze on top… and make a great cup of coffee or tea…. And enjoy….. mmmmmm

Unfortunately we did not purchase these items on that trip…. Let’s just say we will save them for a baking adventure sometime later in the fall when it is slightly cooler here in Arizona!

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think?? Leave a comment here or on the Facebook page, OK?

Meatless Monday: Trader Joe’s Meatless Products

For Meatless Monday this week, we hoped to inspire you with a new product that we spotted the last time we were zipping around our Trader Joe’s store.  These items are ready to use, and can really help you out if you are stuck on a Meatless Monday:

  • Trader Joe’s Chicken-Less/ Pulled Chicken in BBQ sauce
  • Trader Joe’s Chicken –Less/ Stuffed Cutlet
  • Trader Joe’s Beef-Less / Strips
  • Trader Joe’s Chicken –Less/ Strips

Now we will completely admit that we have not tried these products, we just spotted them on a recent visit… but we are planning to try them soon. As we both LOVE bbq, I think the Chicken- less Pulled Chicken in BBQ sauce might be the first to make it on our plates….

We were commenting that these products are so flexable there must be a zillion ways that these products could be presented for meals:

  • In Tacos
  • On Salads
  • In a Stir Fry
  • In Fajitas (or at least sautéed with sweet onions, right?)
  • Diced up in soups or stews
  • Served as-is with mashed potatoes and vegetables

OK we could go on and on…

Have you tried these products? What did you think?  Drop us a note here, OR check us out on our FACEBOOK fan page, LivingTrader Joe’s… see you on Facebook!

Trader Joe’s In Kansas City!

Trader Joe’s In Kansas City? What?

At last… the wait is over. Trader Joe’s will be in Kansas City in 2011. YEAH! Welcome Trader Joe’s! Why do we care so much about this new opening? Well, because we moved to Tucson from Kansas City, and just LOVE Kansas City and think it is a great town to have a Trader Joe’s store in. Opps… did I say store? I meant to say stores!

Trader Joe's Bag

Soon to Be Seen in Kansas City

Yes, there will be two new stores opening in the Kansas City area. The first in Leawood (119th and Roe) and the other….. Ward Parkway Shopping Mall!

Both locations will be excellent venues for a Trader Joe’s.

My Mother, who lives in Kansas City, was so excited about hearing the news that she emailed me a link to the Kansas City paper. If you want to read the whole article it is here: Trader Joe’s in the Kansas City Paper.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the new locations for the Trader Joe’s stores, but it does seem funny to me that they are only going to be 6 miles apart from one another. But maybe that has to do with receiving the goods in an efficient manner.

Whatever the reason, I know that we will be checking the news stores out on our next visit to the Kansas City area.  Congratulations Kansas City!
